Terms of Service

Last updated: 18 August 2026

Sections 1–19 apply to both; 20–24 are for tutors.

These terms are the agreement between you and Planur for using our app and website. In short: use Planur responsibly, you own your content, paid plans renew through your app store until you cancel, and our AI suggestions are helpful guides — not a substitute for your own judgement.

If you use Planur for Tutors to run a teaching practice, sections 20 to 24 apply to you in addition to everything below, and they change some of it — most importantly, you are the controller of your students’ data and we act on your instructions (§21), and your liability terms are business terms rather than consumer ones (§23).

1. About these terms

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Planur student app, Planur for Tutors, and this website (together, the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Notice. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. Who we are

The Service is operated by Planur Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (“Planur”, “we”, “us”). For any question about these Terms, use the contact form on this website.

3. Eligibility and age

Planur is available worldwide and is intended for students aged 13 and over. If you are below the age at which you can consent for yourself under the law of your country, you need a parent or guardian’s permission to use the Service, and we may require verifiable parental consent before your account is fully activated. Minimum ages vary by country — some examples:

These are examples only; wherever you are, your local law applies. By using the Service you confirm you meet these requirements and that the information you give us is accurate. We do not knowingly allow children under 13 to create accounts.

To open a tutor account you must be 18 or over and entitled to run a teaching business where you live.

4. Your account

You sign in with a one-time code sent to your email or phone. You are responsible for keeping access to that email/phone secure and for activity that happens under your account. Please give accurate account information and keep it up to date. Tell us (via the contact form) if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.

5. The Service and plans

Planur helps you organise your studies — timetable, assignments, to-dos, exams, fixtures, focus sessions, study plans and related features. We offer a free plan and optional paid plans (subscriptions) that unlock additional features and higher limits. The specific features and limits of each plan are shown in the app and may change as the Service develops.

Planur for Tutors helps you run a teaching practice — batches, sessions, roster, attendance, class materials, AI-generated practice tests, and fee tracking. Plans are banded by number of students, with limits on materials storage and generated tests per month. The bands and their limits are shown in the app and may change as the Service develops; see §22.

6. Subscriptions, billing and renewals

Paid plans are sold as auto-renewing subscriptions through the Apple App Store or Google Play, managed via our billing provider RevenueCat. When you subscribe:

  • Payment is charged to your app store account at confirmation of purchase.
  • Your subscription renews automatically for the same period at the then-current price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
  • You manage and cancel your subscription in your app store account settings — not inside Planur. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep access until the end of the period already paid for.
  • Any free trial converts to a paid subscription at the end of the trial unless you cancel before it ends. If we offer an introductory or promotional price, it applies only for the stated period, after which the standard price applies.
  • We never receive or store your card details — payment is handled entirely by the app store.
Planur for Tutors

Tutor plans are not sold through an app store. You buy them directly from us on a secure page hosted by Stripe, our payment provider, which opens in your browser. When you subscribe:

  • Payment is charged to the card you give Stripe, and your plan starts as soon as it succeeds.
  • A subscription covers one practice. If you run more than one, each carries its own subscription.
  • Your subscription renews automatically — monthly or yearly, whichever you chose — at the then-current price until you cancel.
  • You manage your plan, update your card or cancel from “Manage plan” in the tutor app, which opens the Stripe customer portal. Stripe signs you in by emailing you a link, so use the same address as your Planur account. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep access until the end of the period already paid for.
  • Any free trial converts to a paid subscription when it ends unless you cancel first.
  • We never receive or store your card details — payment is handled entirely by Stripe.

7. Cancellations and refunds

Because subscriptions are billed by the app stores, refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their respective policies, and refund requests should be made to them. Where you have statutory rights as a consumer (for example under UK/EU consumer law), those rights are not affected by these Terms. Note that by starting to use paid digital features immediately, you may acknowledge that your statutory “cooling-off” cancellation right can end once the digital service has begun.

Because tutor plans are billed by us through Stripe rather than by an app store, refund requests come to us, not to Apple or Google — use the contact form on this website. You can cancel at any time from “Manage plan” in the app; cancelling stops the next renewal and you keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for.

Consumer cooling-off rights generally do not apply to a subscription bought for a business. Where you do have statutory rights as a consumer, those rights are not affected by these Terms.

8. Acceptable use

When using Planur you agree not to:

9. Your content

You keep ownership of the content you create in Planur (your timetable, tasks, notes and similar; for a tutor, your materials, tests, roster and records). You grant us a limited licence to store, process and display that content solely to operate the Service for you (including syncing and backup). You are responsible for the content you add and for having the right to use it. How we handle your data is explained in our Privacy Notice.

10. AI features

Some features generate study plans, revision quizzes, suggestions and practice tests using AI. These are provided to help you and can be inaccurate or incomplete. They are not professional, academic, legal, medical or financial advice, and you should use your own judgement and check anything important. We do not guarantee any particular result or outcome from using AI features.

You are the editor. Generated practice tests are drafts. Nothing generated reaches a student until you publish it, and you are responsible for reviewing the questions and the answer key for accuracy and suitability before you do.

11. Safety and Parent mode

Planur includes a Parent mode and safety features. If you connect a parent or guardian, they may see limited information you have agreed to share. Safety helplines and reporting options in the app are provided for convenience; in an emergency always contact your local emergency services.

12. Our intellectual property

The Planur apps, website, name, logo, design and software are owned by Planur or our licensors and are protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service under these Terms. You may not copy, resell or create derivative works from the Service except as allowed by law.

13. Third-party services

The Service relies on third parties including the Apple App Store, Google Play, RevenueCat, Stripe (tutor subscriptions), Supabase, Google Firebase and our AI processing providers. Your use of the app stores, and of Stripe’s payment pages, is also subject to their terms. We are not responsible for third-party services we do not control.

14. Availability and changes

We work to keep Planur available and reliable, but we provide the Service “as is” and do not promise it will always be uninterrupted or error-free. We may add, change, suspend or remove features, and we may carry out maintenance, as the Service develops.

15. Our liability

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for your non-excludable statutory consumer rights. Subject to that, we are not liable for loss that is not reasonably foreseeable, or for loss of data you could have avoided by keeping your own backups.

The student app is provided for personal, student use, and we are not liable for business losses.

For business use of Planur for Tutors, §23 sets out how liability works instead of the consumer position above.

16. Suspension and termination

You can stop using Planur and delete your account at any time — see theplanur.co.uk/delete-account. We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly breach these Terms, or where necessary to protect other users or comply with the law. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (such as content licence, IP, liability and governing law) will continue to apply.

17. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms as Planur develops. If we make material changes we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app or on this website. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

18. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and disputes are subject to the courts of England and Wales. However, wherever you live — including elsewhere in the UK, the EU/EEA, the United States, Canada, India, Latin America, Africa and the Asia-Pacific — you keep the benefit of any mandatory consumer-protection and data-protection rights of your home country that cannot be excluded by agreement, and nothing in these Terms overrides them.

19. Contact

For any question about these Terms, use the contact form on this website. See our Privacy Notice for how we handle your data.

20. Tutor accounts and your practice

Planur for Tutors

A practice is your teaching business, not a venue: one subscription covers it however many locations you teach at. The person who creates the practice is its owner. Roles within a practice (owner, co-owner, teacher, assistant) carry different permissions, and fee data is restricted to the owner tier — enforced in our database rather than only hidden on screen.

You are responsible for who you give access to your practice and for what they do in it. Your students never pay us to connect to you, and we never charge a student or a parent for the tutor features.

21. Your students’ data — you are the controller

For the personal data you enter or record about your students and their parents — names, year groups, contact details, attendance, results, fees — you (your practice) are the data controller and we are your processor. We process it only to provide the Service to you and on your instructions, never for our own purposes, never to market to your students or their parents, and never by sending it to an AI provider. §11 of the Privacy Notice sets this out in full and forms part of these Terms.

Because you are the controller, you agree that:

  • you have a lawful basis for entering each student’s and parent’s details into Planur;
  • you will keep that information accurate, and remove students who leave your practice;
  • the parents whose contact details you record are aware you use a third-party app to run your teaching — you may point them at our Privacy Notice;
  • you will send each student’s join code to that student’s own parent or the student themselves, not to a group;
  • you will pass on to us, promptly, any data-protection request you receive that we need to act on, and we will help you answer requests about data we hold for you.

We enforce, in the database: a tutor never sees a student’s own personal planner; no practice can read another practice’s data; fee data is invisible below the owner tier; and no student account can reach an answer key.

22. Plan limits — what happens when you reach one

Plans are banded by number of students, with limits on materials storage and generated tests per month. When you reach a limit, or if you downgrade or stop paying, nothing you have already put in is deleted. Your students, register, invoices and uploaded materials all remain. What you cannot do is add more — another student, another upload — until you are on a plan that allows it. The same applies when a free trial ends.

Planur is built for practices of up to one hundred students; above that, contact us before relying on it.

23. Fees, invoicing and business liability

We track and remind; we do not collect. Planur records the fees you set and the invoices you raise, and drafts reminders for you to send. Money moves directly between you and your students’ parents. We are not a payment processor, we are not party to your fee arrangements, and we are not responsible for collecting, refunding or accounting for them — including your tax obligations.

Liability for business use. Subject always to the losses that cannot be excluded by law (see §15), for your business use of the Service we are not liable for loss of profit, loss of business, loss of goodwill, or indirect or consequential loss; and our total liability arising in any twelve-month period is limited to the subscription fees you paid us for the Service in that period.

24. Support, and leaving

Support. You can report a bug, request an improvement or ask a question from inside the app, and see what happened to it. We aim to respond within 24 hours. That is the standard we set ourselves, not a guaranteed service level, and we would rather state it plainly than promise something we cannot always hit.

If you leave. You can delete your practice at any time — see theplanur.co.uk/delete-account, which explains what is removed, what your students see afterwards, and what we are required to retain. A one-tap export of your roster, register, invoices and materials is on our roadmap and is not available yet; until it is, ask us and we will help you get your data out.
